Nägemiskontroll

Nägemiskontroll, also known as an eye examination or vision test, is a routine procedure performed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist to assess a person's vision and overall eye health. The primary goal is to detect and diagnose any refractive errors, such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism, as well as other potential eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

The process typically begins with a review of the patient's medical history and any symptoms they may be experiencing. This is followed by a series of tests. Visual acuity tests, often using a Snellen chart, measure how clearly a person can see at different distances. Refraction tests, which can involve using a phoropter or autorefractor, determine the precise prescription needed for corrective lenses. Other examinations may include checking eye muscle function, peripheral vision, depth perception, and examining the internal and external structures of the eye using specialized equipment like a slit lamp and ophthalmoscope.

Regular nägemiskontroll is crucial for maintaining good vision throughout life. Early detection of vision problems and eye diseases can lead to more effective treatment and prevent irreversible vision loss. The recommended frequency of eye exams varies depending on age, risk factors, and individual health, but generally, children and adults should have them periodically.
