Möbliert

Möbliert is a term used in rental listings in German-speaking countries to describe an apartment or room that is furnished with essential furniture and household items so that a tenant can move in immediately. There are variations such as voll möbliert (fully furnished) and teilmöbliert (partly furnished).

Typical furnishings include sleeping area (bed, wardrobe), living room (sofa, chairs, table), storage (shelf, wardrobe), dining table, and lighting. Kitchens can be a separate kitchen with built-in kitchen (Einbauküche, EBK) or a basic kitchenette. Appliances may include stove, oven, and refrigerator; a dishwasher is sometimes included. Linen and towels are not guaranteed unless stated.

In a contract, the landlord should specify what is included; the term möbliert does not automatically cover all items. If the kitchen is built-in (EBK), the landlord provides it; otherwise, the tenant might need to supply their own. In some markets, fully furnished accommodations command higher rent and a higher security deposit; terms vary by country and city.

Renters should review the inventory list and verify the condition of furniture; clarify maintenance responsibilities and whether serviced cleaning is included; note that energy costs and utilities may be included or billed separately.

The concept is common in Germany and Austria; in Switzerland, similar terms are used. In rental advertisements, möbliert is a practical shorthand indicating readiness for immediate occupancy.
