Märkäpesurit

Märkäpesurit is a Finnish term that translates to "wet scrubbers" in English. It refers to a type of air pollution control device used to remove particulate matter and gases from industrial exhaust streams. Wet scrubbers operate by bringing the polluted gas into contact with a scrubbing liquid, typically water, or a water-based solution. This contact allows for the absorption of soluble gases and the impingement and capture of particulate matter onto liquid droplets.

The design of wet scrubbers can vary significantly depending on the specific application and the pollutants being targeted. Common types include venturi scrubbers, spray towers, and packed bed scrubbers. In a venturi scrubber, gas is forced through a constricted section (the venturi) where it meets a high-velocity spray of liquid. This creates turbulence and promotes efficient particle and gas removal. Spray towers use nozzles to atomize the scrubbing liquid into the gas stream, allowing for contact and absorption. Packed bed scrubbers contain a bed of packing material, such as rings or saddles, which increases the surface area for liquid-gas contact.

The scrubbing liquid, after it has captured pollutants, is then collected and treated or disposed of. The efficiency of a wet scrubber depends on factors such as the type of scrubber, the properties of the pollutant, the gas flow rate, and the characteristics of the scrubbing liquid. Wet scrubbers are widely used in various industries, including power generation, chemical manufacturing, and metal processing, to comply with environmental regulations and reduce air emissions.
