Märgpesuri

Märgpesuri is a term of Estonian origin that translates to "wet scrubber" in English. It refers to a type of industrial air pollution control device designed to remove particulate matter and gases from industrial exhaust streams. Märgpesurid work by using a liquid, typically water, to trap the pollutants.

The basic principle involves bringing the polluted gas stream into contact with a scrubbing liquid. This contact can occur in various ways, such as passing the gas through a spray of liquid, bubbling it through a pool of liquid, or using a wetted packing material. The pollutants either dissolve into the liquid or are captured as droplets or solid particles suspended in the liquid.

There are several types of märgpesurid, including venturi scrubbers, spray towers, and packed bed scrubbers, each employing different methods of gas-liquid contact to achieve efficient pollutant removal. The choice of märgpesuri depends on the specific application, the type and concentration of pollutants, and the required efficiency. After the scrubbing process, the liquid, now laden with pollutants, is separated from the cleaned gas. The liquid may be treated further to remove or recover the pollutants, or it may be disposed of. Märgpesurid are widely used in industries such as power generation, chemical manufacturing, and metal processing to comply with environmental regulations and improve air quality.
