Myuchs

The Myuchs refer to a type of Chinese Muslim that originated in the province of Guangxi. They are also known as the "Pre-Qing Muslim" or "Qing-Shui'. Historically, they had distinct regional characteristics and cultural practices that set them apart from others in the Muslim community.

During the Qing dynasty, the Myuchs were divided into the Bao'an and the Chuang. The Bao'an encompassed the Muslims in the city of Baoan, as well as those from Chongxiang, Taopingshan, as well as Pingle and Nanning. The latter two were predominantly populated by the Muslim ethnic minority group known as the Puxian Moslem Community which had long been included within the Puxian, that means that this region is, geographically and ethnically part of the distinct area.

These distinctions were based on their cultural and regional background as well as language distinctions within these communities, from the dialects spoken by the Muslims in the area. There were noticeable differences in clothing, material culture, architecture, and dress which reflect their convergence and modification into the people widening the religious community but a distinctive embodiment that continued to exist in abounding area.
