MyD88S
MyD88s, also known as Myeloid differentiation primary response 88 short, is a splice variant of the MyD88 gene. MyD88 itself is an adaptor protein that plays a critical role in the innate immune system, primarily mediating signaling downstream of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and IL-1 receptor family members. MyD88s differs from the full-length MyD88 (often referred to as MyD88L for long) by lacking a portion of the C-terminal domain, specifically the TIR domain, which is essential for interacting with downstream signaling molecules.
Due to the absence of the TIR domain, MyD88s cannot effectively recruit or activate key signaling proteins
The expression of MyD88s is regulated and can be influenced by various factors, including inflammatory stimuli.
