Muurahaisryhmiä

Muurahaisryhmiä refers to the social structures and organizations found within ant colonies. Ants are highly eusocial insects, meaning they live in complex, cooperative societies characterized by reproductive division of labor, overlapping generations within a colony, and extensive cooperative brood care. A typical muurahaisryhmä consists of a queen or multiple queens responsible for reproduction, and a large number of sterile female workers who perform all the tasks necessary for the colony's survival. These tasks can include foraging for food, defending the nest, caring for the young (eggs, larvae, and pupae), and maintaining the colony's infrastructure.

Within the worker caste, there is often further specialization, forming different subgroups or castes. These might include soldiers, which are larger and have stronger mandibles for defense, or minor workers, which are smaller and primarily involved in tasks like foraging and brood care.
