Mutnovsky

Mutnovsky is a stratovolcano located in the southern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the region, known for its frequent eruptive activity and significant geothermal features. The volcano is part of the Southern Kamchatka Volcanic Belt and is situated approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The volcanic complex is characterized by a caldera with a diameter of about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles). Within the caldera, there are several somma craters. Mutnovsky has a history of powerful eruptions, including Plinian eruptions. The area surrounding the volcano features numerous fumaroles, hot springs, mud pots, and sulfurous deposits, creating a striking and otherworldly landscape.
