Murom

Murom is a city in Vladimir Oblast, Russia, situated on the Oka River. It is the administrative center of Muromsky District and is incorporated as Murom Urban Okrug. The city lies roughly to the east of Moscow in the southwest part of the oblast.

Murom is one of Russia’s oldest towns, with a history that dates back to the early medieval period. The name is traditionally linked to the ancient Muroma tribe, and the settlement is mentioned in early chronicles as a key trading and religious center along the Oka.
