Municipalization

Municipalization is the transfer of control of a public service from private, state, or national government to a municipal government or city-owned entity. The aim is to bring decision-making closer to residents, increase accountability, and promote long-term investment in critical infrastructure. It is most common in utilities such as electricity, water, and waste management, but also applies to transportation, housing, and broadband networks, as well as other municipal services.
