Multistadietorkning, often translated as multistage drying, is an industrial process designed to remove moisture from materials through a series of sequential drying steps. Each stage typically employs different drying conditions, such as temperature, humidity, or airflow, to optimize the removal of water at various points in the drying cycle. This approach contrasts with single-stage drying, where a uniform drying environment is maintained throughout the entire process.

The primary advantage of multistadietorkning lies in its ability to achieve more efficient and uniform drying, especially for materials that are sensitive to heat or can develop undesirable characteristics if dried too quickly or too slowly. For instance, a material might be initially dried at a moderate temperature to prevent surface hardening or case hardening, followed by a higher temperature stage to accelerate the removal of internal moisture.
