Multimallijärjestelmät

Multimallijärjestelmät, known in English as multi-model database systems, are a type of database management system designed to handle a wide variety of data models within a single, integrated system. Unlike traditional single-model databases that are optimized for a specific data structure, such as relational (tables), document (JSON, XML), key-value, graph, or time-series, multimodel systems offer flexibility by supporting multiple data models concurrently.

This versatility allows developers to use the most appropriate data model for different parts of an application or for diverse data types without needing to deploy and manage separate database instances for each model. For example, an application might store user profiles in a document store format, social connections as a graph, and transactional data in a relational structure, all within the same multimodel database.

The benefits of using multimodel systems include simplified infrastructure, reduced operational overhead, and the ability to adapt to evolving data requirements more easily. Developers can leverage a single query language or API to interact with data across different models, streamlining application development.
