Motorenergy

Motorenergy is a term used to describe the energy content and energy flow associated with motor systems. It encompasses the electrical energy supplied to a motor, the mechanical energy delivered to a load, and the losses that occur within the motor and drivetrain. In practice, motorenergy also includes stored kinetic energy in rotating components and any recoverable energy through braking or regeneration.

Core concepts and measurement. The key quantities are electrical input power (P_in), mechanical output power (P_out), torque (T), and angular speed (ω). Energy over a period is the integral of power, yielding E. Efficiency is defined as η = P_out / P_in, and an energy balance accounts for losses as heat, core losses, friction, and windage.
