Mordad
Mordad is the fifth month of the Solar Hijri calendar, the official calendar of Iran and Afghanistan. It has 31 days. It begins in late July and ends in late August, typically from July 23 to August 22 in the Gregorian calendar, though exact dates shift slightly from year to year due to leap-year adjustments and the alignment with the vernal equinox. The name Mordad derives from Middle Persian and Avestan language and is part of the traditional 12-month cycle used in the ancient Persian calendar. As with the other months, Mordad is used in civil life, farming schedules, and public calendars in Iran and Afghanistan. The Solar Hijri calendar is solar-based and its New Year, Nowruz, begins at the vernal equinox, anchoring Mordad within the summer portion of the year.
