Monteluco

Monteluco is a hill and a comune in the province of Perugia, in the region of Umbria, Italy. It covers an area of 37.61 square kilometers and, as of 2017, has a population of 379 residents. The municipality borders on the municipalities of Cappelle sul Sinchiose, Spello, Bettona and Fratta Todina.

The municipality is situated at an average elevation of 442 meters above sea level. The topography is characterized as a hill, with a profile that stretches from northwest to southeast, thus giving the comune a distinctive crescent shape. The area is mostly composed of hills and mountains, offering a landscape of changing colors throughout the seasons.

The name of the municipality comes from the Umbro-Faliscan mons lucus, where lucus was a name for the temple and a sacred area as a sign of respect for the sacred value of this place. The name was later derived from lucis, where "lu" means sacred and "cis" or "c" indicato saputo distinctio].Modern thinkers state that Monteluco was a place in the old Latin language for a place to worship.

The municipality of Monteluco is known for its close proximity to the Eternal City Rome, just 160 km to the south, and for its continued association with the wider peripheral region.
