Monikulmioisia

Monikulmioisia is a Finnish term that can be translated to "polygons" in English. A polygon is a closed two-dimensional shape made up of straight line segments. These segments are called sides, and they connect at points called vertices. The number of sides and vertices is always equal in a polygon.

Polygons are classified by the number of their sides. A polygon with three sides is called a triangle, one with four sides is a quadrilateral, a five-sided polygon is a pentagon, and a six-sided polygon is a hexagon. As the number of sides increases, so does the complexity of the shape. For example, a polygon with ten sides is a decagon.

Polygons can be either convex or concave. In a convex polygon, all interior angles are less than 180 degrees, and any line segment connecting two points within the polygon lies entirely within the polygon. In a concave polygon, at least one interior angle is greater than 180 degrees, and it may be possible to draw a line segment between two points within the polygon that extends outside of it.

Regular polygons are a special type of polygon where all sides are of equal length, and all interior angles are equal. Examples include equilateral triangles and squares. Irregular polygons do not have sides or angles of equal measure. The study of polygons is a fundamental part of geometry, with applications in fields such as architecture, art, and computer graphics.
