Mobiludvikling, or mobile development, refers to the process of creating software applications for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. This field encompasses a wide range of activities, from initial design and coding to testing and deployment on platforms like iOS and Android.

There are two primary approaches to mobile development. Native development involves creating applications specifically for a single operating system, using the platform's unique programming languages and tools. For instance, iOS apps are typically built using Swift or Objective-C, while Android apps use Java or Kotlin. This approach generally offers the best performance, user experience, and access to device-specific features.

The alternative is cross-platform development, where a single codebase can be used to create applications for multiple operating systems. Frameworks like React Native, Flutter, and Xamarin enable developers to write code once and deploy it on both iOS and Android, often leading to faster development times and reduced costs. However, cross-platform apps may sometimes face limitations in performance or access to the latest native features.

The mobile development lifecycle typically includes stages such as requirement gathering, design, coding, testing (including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing), deployment to app stores, and ongoing maintenance and updates. The rapid evolution of mobile technology and user expectations means that mobile development is a constantly changing and dynamic field.
