Mittelsachsen is a district in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It was formed in 2008 by the merger of the former districts of Döbeln, Freiberg, and Mittweida. The district's administrative seat is Freiberg. Mittelsachsen is located in the central part of Saxony and borders the districts of Erzgebirgskreis, Vogtlandkreis, Zwickau, Leipzig, Nordsachsen, and Meißen, as well as the Czech Republic to the south.
