Mittekontaktmeetodid, also known as non-contact methods, refer to a range of techniques used to measure or inspect objects without physically touching them. These methods are employed across various fields, including manufacturing, quality control, medical imaging, and environmental monitoring. The primary advantage of non-contact measurement is the elimination of potential damage to delicate or sensitive objects, as well as the avoidance of contamination.

Optical methods are a prominent category of non-contact techniques. These include laser scanning, which uses a laser beam to create a 3D model of an object, and structured light scanning, which projects a known pattern onto a surface and analyzes its deformation to determine shape. Photogrammetry, another optical technique, uses multiple photographs taken from different angles to reconstruct a 3D representation. Infrared thermography is utilized to detect temperature variations on a surface without direct contact, useful for identifying defects or monitoring equipment performance.

Ultrasonic testing is another non-contact method, particularly for inspecting internal structures of materials. Sound waves are transmitted into the material, and their reflection patterns are analyzed to detect flaws or measure thickness. Magnetic particle testing, while often involving some proximity, can be considered non-contact in that the particles themselves are the medium for detection, not a physical probe of the surface. Eddy current testing uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and near-surface flaws in conductive materials. These methods collectively offer versatile solutions for inspection and measurement challenges where direct contact is undesirable or impossible.
