Mittebinaarsus
Mittebinaarsus refers to a person's gender identity not being exclusively male or female. It is an umbrella term that encompasses a wide range of gender experiences that fall outside the traditional binary of man and woman. People who identify as non-binary may feel they are both male and female, neither male nor female, or have a gender identity that shifts over time. Non-binary identities are diverse and can include terms such as genderqueer, genderfluid, agender, and bigender, among others.
It is important to understand that non-binary is a valid gender identity, distinct from sexual orientation.
The concept of non-binary gender is not new and has historical and cultural precedents in various societies.
