Mirèio

Mirèio is a celebrated epic poem written in the Provençal language by the French poet Frédéric Mistral. First published in 1859, it is considered one of Mistral's most significant works and a cornerstone of the Provençal literary revival. The poem tells the story of a young shepherdess named Mirèio and her love for a poor basket weaver, Vincèn. Their romance faces obstacles primarily from Mirèio's father, who disapproves of the match and intends for her to marry a wealthy old man.
