Minneola

Minneola is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area and is located in the central part of the county, near Clermont and Groveland. The community includes residential neighborhoods, local parks, schools, and small-scale commercial development. Minneola is connected to surrounding communities by regional roadways, and its growth has been linked to its proximity to larger employment centers and access to major highways.

Minneola also refers to a citrus fruit cultivar known as the Minneola tangelo. Developed in Florida and named after Lake Minneola in Lake County, the fruit is a cross between a Dancy mandarin and a Duncan grapefruit. It is typically large and oblong with a neck-like taper; the rind is bright orange, relatively thin, and easy to peel. The flesh is sweet with a tangy citrus flavor and may be seedless or contain few seeds. Minneola tangelos are commonly available in winter and are valued for fresh eating and juicing.
