Minija
Minija is a river in western Lithuania. It is the third longest river in Lithuania, with a length of 209 kilometers. The Minija originates in the Samogitian Highlands and flows through the cities of Vėžaičiai and Gargždai before emptying into the Curonian Lagoon near the port of Klaipėda. The river is navigable for most of its course and is an important waterway for transportation and recreation. Its basin covers an area of approximately 5,800 square kilometers. The Minija is characterized by its relatively slow flow and meandering course through a landscape of forests and agricultural land. Several tributaries join the Minija, contributing to its water volume. The river's ecosystem supports a variety of fish species and is a habitat for waterfowl. Historical settlements and archaeological sites are found along its banks, indicating its long-standing significance to the region. The Minija's delta region is particularly ecologically valuable.
