It appears to be either a typographical error or a coined neologism formed by joining “microorganisms” with the word “such.” There is no formal definition or taxonomic group by that name in current scientific literature. In practice, authors refer to microorganisms, or to specific classes such as bacteria, archaea, fungi, protists, algae, or viruses.

Overview: Microorganisms are organisms too small to be seen with the naked eye. They include bacteria, archaea, fungi (yeasts and molds), protists, algae, and viruses. They inhabit nearly every environment and drive essential processes such as decomposition, nutrient cycling, and energy production. Many microorganisms are beneficial to humans and industry (food fermentation, biotechnology), while others can cause disease.

Methods and classification: Microbiology uses culturing, microscopy, staining, and increasingly molecular approaches to identify and study microorganisms. Genomic sequencing and metagenomics reveal diversity in communities that cannot be grown in the laboratory. Taxonomy groups organisms based on genetics, metabolism, and structure, with ongoing revisions as new data emerge.
