Microfascism

Microfascism is a term used to describe small-scale, everyday manifestations of fascist-like behavior or ideology. It refers to the subtle, often unintentional, ways in which authoritarian tendencies, exclusionary practices, and the glorification of a dominant group can appear in personal interactions or within smaller social structures. Unlike overt, large-scale fascism, microfascism is characterized by its localized and often individualized nature.

The concept suggests that certain attitudes and behaviors, while not necessarily part of a grand fascist movement, can echo its core tenets. These might include a rigid adherence to hierarchy, intolerance of dissent, a tendency to scapegoat minority groups, or an excessive emphasis on order and control in personal or local contexts. The term is often employed in discussions of social dynamics, political discourse, and cultural critique, highlighting how elements associated with fascism can permeate everyday life even in the absence of a full-fledged fascist regime.
