MicroSDkorttien, often shortened to microSD cards, are a widely used type of removable flash memory storage. They are incredibly small, measuring approximately 15 x 11 millimeters, making them ideal for portable electronic devices. These cards are based on the flash memory technology, allowing for the storage and retrieval of digital data such as photos, videos, music, and applications.

MicroSD cards come in various capacities, ranging from a few gigabytes to several terabytes, offering flexibility for different storage needs. They are categorized by their speed classes, which indicate the minimum sequential write speed. Common speed classes include Class 2, 4, 6, 10, and UHS (Ultra High Speed) classes like U1 and U3, crucial for smooth video recording and fast file transfers.

These storage devices are primarily used in smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, drones, gaming consoles, and other compact electronic gadgets. Their primary advantage is their portability and the ability to expand the storage capacity of devices that might otherwise have limited internal memory. Many devices feature a dedicated microSD card slot for easy insertion and removal.

The standard for microSD cards is managed by the SD Association. Beyond the basic microSD format, there are also microSDHC (High Capacity) and microSDXC (eXtended Capacity) variations, which denote higher storage capacities and different file system formats. While functionally similar, the type of card supported depends on the host device's compatibility.
