Mets
The New York Mets are an American professional baseball team based in New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League East division. The team was founded in 1962 as an expansion franchise to replace the departed Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants; the name Mets is short for Metropolitans, in reference to 19th-century New York clubs.
They played their first two seasons at the Polo Grounds, then moved to Shea Stadium in Flushing,
Mets have won two World Series titles, in 1969 and 1986, and have captured four National League
Ownership and management have changed over the years; Steve Cohen became the principal owner in 2020, with
