Metrolinxs
Metrolinxs is a transportation agency responsible for public transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) of Ontario, Canada. It was established in 2019 through the amalgamation of GO Transit, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus and streetcar services, andPRESTO fare card system. Metrolinxs operates a comprehensive network of commuter rail, bus, light rail, and subway services. Its mandate is to provide efficient, accessible, and integrated public transportation across the region, aiming to reduce congestion and support economic growth. The agency is overseen by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Key initiatives under Metrolinxs include the expansion of GO Transit's rail network, the development of new light rail transit (LRT) lines, and the integration of fare systems to allow for seamless transfers between different transit modes.
