Metoksiryhmiä
Metoksiryhmiä, or methoxy groups, are a functional group in organic chemistry with the general formula -OCH₃. This group consists of an oxygen atom bonded to a methyl group (CH₃). The oxygen atom is also bonded to the rest of a molecule, typically a carbon atom. Methoxy groups are common in many organic compounds, including natural products and pharmaceuticals.
The presence of a methoxy group can significantly influence the chemical and physical properties of a molecule.
Methoxy groups are often introduced into organic molecules through ether synthesis reactions, such as the Williamson
