Meteoropathy

Meteoropathy refers to a range of perceived physical and psychological symptoms that some individuals report experiencing in response to changes in weather or atmospheric conditions. These symptoms can include headaches, joint pain, fatigue, mood swings, and difficulty concentrating. The term itself is derived from the Greek words "meteoron" meaning celestial phenomenon or atmosphere, and "pathos" meaning suffering or disease.

While many people report experiencing such weather-related ailments, meteoropathy is not a recognized medical diagnosis in mainstream scientific literature. Scientific research into the direct causal link between weather and specific health complaints has yielded mixed results. Some studies suggest potential correlations between barometric pressure changes, temperature shifts, and humidity levels with certain symptoms, particularly in individuals with pre-existing conditions like arthritis or migraines. However, definitive biological mechanisms explaining widespread meteoropathic effects remain largely elusive.

Explanations for reported meteoropathic symptoms often consider physiological responses to environmental stimuli, such as changes in blood pressure or circulation due to temperature fluctuations.
