The **Metakarpalköpfchen** (German for "metacarpal head") refers to the rounded, proximal end of a metacarpal bone in the human hand. Metacarpals are the long bones that form the skeletal structure of the palm, connecting the wrist bones (carpals) to the bones of the fingers (phalanges). Each metacarpal corresponds to one of the five digits, numbered I through V from the thumb to the little finger.

The metacarpal head is a crucial anatomical feature, articulating with the proximal phalanx of the respective finger to form the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint, commonly known as the knuckle. This joint allows for flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction movements, enabling precise hand function.
