Meta-Wiki, commonly known as Meta, is the central coordination wiki of the Wikimedia movement. It provides a discussion and documentation space for strategy, policy development, and cross-project coordination among Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, and Wikibooks, as well as the Wikimedia Foundation and affiliated organizations. Meta is distinct from project wikis and serves as a hub for drafting guidelines, tracking proposals, planning events, and preserving community practices.

The site hosts governance and coordination pages, policy proposals, and technical documentation. Its content is organized into portals and topics such as Policy, Community, and Technology, with pages for cross-project initiatives, translation workflows, and user support. It is used for discussions, Requests for Comment, and decision processes, and it preserves the historical rationale behind movement-wide decisions.

Access and editing: Meta is a collaboratively edited platform run by volunteers and Wikimedia Foundation staff. It is open to readers and editors, with content guided by community consensus and, when necessary, administrator actions. Although primarily in English, many pages are translated and linked in multiple languages to serve a global audience.

History and role: Meta began as a cross-wiki coordination page and has grown into the Wikimedia movement’s central planning and discussion space. It houses governance discussions, policy proposals, technical notes, and movement-wide documentation.
