Mengun

Mengun is a town in the fictional nation of Liria. It lies in the Mengun Valley along the Nera River and serves as the administrative center of Mengun District. The town is situated at about 200 to 400 meters above sea level, with a temperate climate that has hot summers and cool winters and receives moderate rainfall that supports agriculture.

Mengun was founded in the 13th century as a trading post controlling river traffic. It grew through the early modern period and became the district capital in the 18th century within the state of Liria. The arrival of railway and roads in the 20th century linked Mengun to larger urban centers.

Today, Mengun's economy centers on agriculture—rice, vegetables, and fruit—alongside small-scale manufacturing and services. The town hosts a weekly market that draws traders from surrounding areas. Transportation includes a regional rail line, intercity buses, and a river port on the Nera.

The population is around 18,000. The community is ethnically diverse, with residents speaking Lirian and the Mengun dialect, along with minority languages. Local culture emphasizes markets, traditional crafts, and a festival of lights held each autumn.

Notable landmarks include the Mengun Market, the Old Fort Mengun, and Mengun Lake Reserve, a protected area near the eastern foothills.
