Key terms related to sets include "empty set," which is a set containing no elements, often denoted by {} or Ø. The "universal set" encompasses all possible elements under consideration within a given context. Relationships between sets are described by concepts like "subset," where all elements of one set are also elements of another. A set can also be a "proper subset" if it is a subset but not equal to the other set.

Operations on sets are also common. "Union" combines elements from two or more sets, including all unique elements from each. "Intersection" identifies elements that are common to two or more sets. "Complement" refers to all elements in the universal set that are not in a specific set.
