Menetméret

Menetméret refers to the specifications of a screw thread, defining its physical dimensions and how it will mate with a corresponding internal or external thread. This includes key parameters such as the major diameter, which is the largest diameter of the thread; the minor diameter, the smallest diameter; and the pitch, which is the distance between adjacent threads. For metric threads, the pitch is typically measured in millimeters. Unified Thread Standard (UTS) threads, common in North America, are specified by diameter and the number of threads per inch (TPI).

The thread form, or the shape of the thread's cross-section, is also a critical aspect of menetméret. Common forms include the V-thread (like the ISO metric thread and the Unified National form), square threads, Acme threads, and buttress threads. Each form is designed for specific applications; V-threads are general-purpose and provide good tensile strength, while square threads are efficient for transmitting power.
