Menetkényelem is a Hungarian term that translates to "threaded connection security" or "thread locking." It refers to the practice of ensuring that threaded fasteners, such as bolts and screws, remain securely in place and do not loosen due to vibrations, shock, or thermal expansion during operation. This is a critical aspect of mechanical engineering and maintenance, as the failure of a threaded connection can lead to component damage, equipment malfunction, and safety hazards.

Several methods are employed to achieve menetkényelem. These can include the use of chemical thread locking compounds, also known as thread lockers or anaerobic adhesives. These liquids are applied to the threads before assembly and cure in the absence of air, forming a strong bond that prevents loosening. Mechanical locking devices are another common approach. These include items like lock washers, which exert a spring force to resist loosening, and locknuts, which have features designed to prevent the nut from backing off. Wire locking, where a wire is passed through holes in the fastener and the surrounding component, is used in high-vibration environments. Jam nuts, where a second nut is tightened against the primary nut, also provide a form of mechanical locking.
