Melankólia
Melankólia is a term with a long and complex history, often used to describe a state of profound sadness, low spirits, or despondency. Historically, it was understood as one of the four humors, believed to be caused by an excess of black bile. This humoral theory, prominent in ancient Greek and Roman medicine, influenced medical and philosophical thought for centuries. The melancholic temperament was associated with introspection, creativity, and sometimes a disposition towards intellectual pursuits, but also with a tendency towards gloom and despair.
In more modern contexts, "melancholy" has evolved beyond a strictly medical diagnosis. It can refer to a
