Meibomkörtlarna
Meibomkörtlarna, also known as tarsal glands, are a type of sebaceous gland located in the eyelids. There are approximately 20-30 meibomian glands in the upper eyelid and 15-20 in the lower eyelid, arranged in rows within the tarsal plate, a firm connective tissue that gives the eyelid its shape. These glands are responsible for producing and secreting meibum, an oily lipid layer that forms the outermost part of the tear film.
