Meditationes

Meditationes, commonly translated as Meditations, is a collection of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor who ruled from 161 to 180 CE. The work is typically described as a series of private reflections rather than a formal treatise, and it was originally composed in Greek.

Dating of the text is uncertain, but most scholars place it in the later years of Aurelius's reign, during his military campaigns on the Danube frontier, including the Marcomannic Wars. It was not written for publication, but as a guide for his own conduct and governance.
