MedianXstyle

MedianXstyle is a software framework for image and video processing that combines median-based filtering with modern style transfer techniques. It is designed to preserve edges and fine textures while applying stylistic transformations to media data.

Developed by MedianX Labs and released in 2022 as an open-source project, MedianXstyle provides a modular pipeline that integrates signal-preserving denoisers with neural-style transfer components, enabling stylization without excessive blur.

Key features include a multi-scale median pyramid, adaptive neighborhood radius for varying noise conditions, color-space aware processing to minimize color artifacts, GPU-accelerated kernels, and a plugin interface for third-party filters and style models.

MedianXstyle is used in photography, videography, and broadcast workflows to produce consistent stylization across frames while mitigating noise. It is also employed in archival restoration and surveillance footage enhancement under certain licensing terms.

Evaluations note its strength in edge preservation and robustness to moderate noise, but identify trade-offs in extreme stylization and compute requirements. The project adopts an open development model and documentation, with contributions governed by its license.
