Maschinenkopplungen

Maschinenkopplungen, often translated as mechanical couplings or shaft couplings, are devices used to connect two rotating shafts. Their primary purpose is to transmit torque from one shaft to another. This transmission can be between a motor and a driven component, or between two shafts in a larger mechanical system. Couplings are essential components in a vast array of machinery, from industrial equipment to automotive drivetrains.

There are numerous types of Maschinenkopplungen, each designed to address specific operational requirements. Some common categories include rigid couplings, which provide a direct, inflexible connection, and flexible couplings, which can accommodate misalignment between shafts. Flexible couplings are further divided based on their ability to absorb vibration, shock, or introduce a degree of damping.
