Marsiling

Marsiling is a planning area located in the North-West region of Singapore. It is one of the many planning areas in Singapore and is part of the Bukit Panjang planning area. The area is situated approximately 20 kilometers west of the city center.

The name Marsiling was actually derived from a military camp called Jalan Marsiling, which is situated within the area. The camp was originally named after the nearby hill called Marsiling Hill. The name Marsiling Hill was itself reportedly derived from the nearby Macalister Road, and in turn, Macalister Road was named after Anthony McAlister, a British engineer.

As a planning area, Marsiling is governed by the Housing and Development Board and is divided into various residential estates, including Nee Soon East, Sembawang Garden, and Marsiling Heights. These residential estates are primarily composed of HDB flats and form a medium to high density residential area.

Marsiling has some recreational and industrial facilities, including the Marsiling Sports Centre and the WCEGA Tower. The area is served by the Marsiling MRT station on the North-South line, which provides convenient access to the rest of the city. The area's Folksee School and the following shopping centers Thye Hong Centre Sembawang Shopping Centre, Marsiling Mall, and Thye Family Clinic Thye Home also serves as a place for students, staffs, and residents for life and entertainment
