Malatapay

Malatapay is a coastal barangay in the municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines. It is part of the southern coast of Negros Island and serves as a small, rural community with fishing and farming as the primary local livelihoods.

The market area also serves as the departure point for banca (boat) trips to Apo Island, which is renowned for its coral reefs and marine sanctuary.

Apo Island is a short boat ride away and is a popular destination for snorkeling and diving, contributing to tourism in Malatapay. Access to Apo Island from Malatapay is primarily by small local boats that operate from the market area.

Administratively, Malatapay is governed as part of Dauin municipality within Negros Oriental province. The barangay comprises residential areas, a market zone, and basic coastal infrastructure that supports fishing and tourism activities.
