Maksunvahvistus is a notification or document that confirms when a payment has been completed from the payer to the payee. Typical contents include the payer and recipient details, the date and time of the payment, the paid amount, the payment method, and a transaction reference or ID.

In practice, maksunvahvistus is commonly used in online commerce, utilities, and service payments to provide customers and merchants with proof of payment. It may appear as an on-page confirmation, an electronic receipt, or an email or SMS message. The information is often aligned with the needs of order processing and financial reconciliation, helping to link a payment to a specific order, invoice, or customer account.

A maksunvahvistus is distinct from a kuitti (receipt) in that the former primarily confirms that a payment was successfully executed, while the latter is a document issued to the payer after a purchase that may also acknowledge goods or services received.
