Maitén
Maitén is a common name for several species of trees and shrubs in the genus Maytenus, found in South America. The most well-known species, Maytenus boaria, is native to Chile and Argentina. This evergreen tree typically grows to a height of 15-20 meters and features small, leathery leaves and inconspicuous flowers. It is known for its graceful, weeping habit, often lending it the common name "Mayten tree" or "Chilean Mayten."
The wood of the maitén tree is dense and durable, historically used for construction and tool handles.
Another species, Maytenus ilicifolia, also known as maitén or espinheira santa (holy thorn), is popular in Brazilian
