Mairaj

Mairaj, also spelled Miraj, is a significant event in Islamic tradition, referring to the miraculous night journey and ascension of the Prophet Muhammad. The event is primarily described in the Quran in Surah Al-Isra, which translates to "The Night Journey." Islamic theology holds that during this journey, the Prophet Muhammad was transported by night from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to the Farthest Mosque in Jerusalem. Following this terrestrial journey, he is believed to have ascended through the heavens, experiencing a spiritual and physical journey.

The ascension, often referred to as the Mi'raj, is described as a profound spiritual experience where the Prophet met various prophets and witnessed signs of God's power. It is during this ascension that the five daily prayers (Salat) were ordained upon Muslims. The concept of Mairaj is a testament to the spiritual elevation and divine connection of the Prophet Muhammad. It is commemorated by Muslims annually on the 27th day of the month of Rajab in the Islamic calendar.
