Magnetisoituvat

Magnetisoituvat is a Finnish term that translates to "magnetizable" or "capable of being magnetized" in English. It refers to the property of a material to become a magnet when placed in an external magnetic field, or to retain its magnetism after the field is removed. This phenomenon is fundamental to the understanding of magnetism and its applications.

Materials that are magnetisoituvat are broadly classified into three categories: ferromagnetic, paramagnetic, and diamagnetic. Ferromagnetic materials, such as iron, nickel, and cobalt, are strongly magnetisoituvat and can retain their magnetism permanently, forming permanent magnets. Paramagnetic materials are weakly attracted to magnetic fields and lose their magnetism when the field is removed. Diamagnetic materials are weakly repelled by magnetic fields and exhibit a very slight magnetization in the opposite direction of the applied field.
