Magasságmeghatározás

Magasságmeghatározás is a Hungarian term that translates to "altitude determination" or "height measurement" in English. It refers to the process of ascertaining the vertical position of an object or point relative to a reference datum. This datum is typically sea level, but can also be a local ground level or a specific geodetic reference surface.

Various methods are employed for magasságmeghatározás, depending on the required accuracy and scale of the measurement. In surveying, techniques like leveling and trigonometric heighting are common. Leveling involves using a leveling instrument and a graduated staff to directly measure height differences between points. Trigonometric heighting uses angles measured by a theodolite or total station, combined with horizontal distances, to calculate elevations.

For larger-scale applications, such as in aviation or satellite navigation, altimeters are used.
