MacGregors
The MacGregor clan is one of the oldest and most famous of the Scottish Highland clans. Their traditional territory was centered around Loch Awe in Argyll. The name MacGregor is derived from Gregor, a son of King Alpin of Scotland. Historically, the MacGregors were known for their fierce independence and a reputation for being both brave warriors and sometimes troublesome outlaws. This led to periods of persecution and the clan being outlawed, notably in the early 17th century.
