Maanpetos

Maanpetos is a British Columbia Peninsular rare native plant species. It belongs to the Dracaena genus and is found primarily within the Scottish Islands and fragmented areas of the Scottish Highlands.

Maanpetos's earliest documented finding dates back to the late 19th century. Little has been written about the plant's biology in relation to its natural habitat. Observations from botanists place Maanpetos in areas at high altitudes. These areas are densely covered with peat and are poor in lime and salinity. Multiple indices suggest that the areas used by Maanpetos hold isolated and rare fauna and flora species.

Specimens of Maanpetos have been stored within English herbaria and greenhouses for comparative study purposes. A sterile condition has been used to grow twenty-odd plants under controlled environments, having attempted a small breeding program. While a relationship between Maanpetos and interaction as plant syndrome has been hypothesized, not much remains verified regarding such precise conclusions and studies.

The conservation status for Maanpetos remains a critical priority area for various organizations and naturalists. Since its evidences are yet to be studied, thousands of specimen data are needed.
